This past Friday was filled with inspiration and empowerment at Nevada Partners. Lauren Jones and I, Nadya Rousseau of Alter New Media, and Lauren A., CEO of All In Recruiting, participated in two impactful events to foster business growth and success among entrepreneurs. The day started with the Women of Global Change Entrepreneurship Workshop and a dynamic startup pitch event hosted by Promise Startups.
The Women of Global Change Entrepreneurship Workshop, held in the morning at the Veteran Entrepreneurial Library, was specifically designed to support historically underrepresented entrepreneurs. Led by the inspiring Heather Rise, the workshop provided essential guidance on business planning, marketing, networking, and sales. We were thrilled to see participants soak in the insights shared by Brenda Bryant, a UNR Business Coach, and other distinguished women business owners.
These incredible women offered valuable knowledge that will undoubtedly help attendees thrive in their entrepreneurial journeys. The workshop set a powerful tone for the day, equipping women entrepreneurs with the tools and confidence they need to succeed.
As the day transitioned to the afternoon, the focus shifted to the Pitch Practice session, where emerging entrepreneurs could present their business ideas to expert judges. Lauren and I were honored to serve as judges alongside the brilliant Lauren Anderson, CEO of All In Recruiting. Both Laurens brought their extensive experience and knowledge to the event, and together, we provided invaluable feedback to the startups that took the stage.
Having played a pivotal role in helping startups raise multiple seven-figure investments through advisory and campaign planning, I was excited to lend my expertise to these ambitious entrepreneurs. With her deep understanding of talent acquisition and human resources, Lauren Jones offered critical insights that guided entrepreneurs in refining their pitches.
So, what did we look for in a strong pitch?
- Clearly Identified Problems With Solutions: Entrepreneurs who could clearly articulate the problem their business was solving stood out. A well-defined problem is crucial for showcasing the value of the solution offered.
- Unique Selling Proposition (USP): The most compelling pitches had a distinct USP that set them apart from the competition. Differentiation is vital to capturing attention in a crowded market.
- Data-Driven Numbers: We were impressed by pitches grounded in factual, data-driven numbers. Accurate revenue projections, market analysis, and cost estimates were essential elements we looked for.
- Founder-to-Business Connection: We valued pitches that connected the founder to their business. Understanding the “why” behind the startup added authenticity and passion, making the pitch more compelling.
The events at Nevada Partners, co-hosted with Promise Startups and held at the Veteran Entrepreneurial Library, created a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration, learning, and growth.
The Women of Global Change workshop empowered underrepresented entrepreneurs with the knowledge and confidence to succeed. At the same time, the Pitch Practice session allowed them to showcase their ideas and receive constructive feedback from experienced professionals.
Together, these events underscored the importance of mentorship, community support, and learning opportunities in driving the success of emerging entrepreneurs. Las Vegas continues to be a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship, and days like this are a testament to the thriving entrepreneurial spirit in our city.
We’re incredibly proud and grateful for the opportunity to be part of this vibrant community, and we look forward to continuing to support and uplift the next generation of business leaders.
We thank Elias Benjelloun and Global Entrepreneurship Week Vegas for inviting us to judge pitches for the local North Las Vegas community. It was an honor to celebrate the hardworking entrepreneurial scene that promoted various niches, from health and wellness juice cleanses to mobile hair salons to edtech, sales apps, and sound healing for veterans with PST.
